Report

Street put in a below performance in this game and were indebted to a star performance by keeper Ben Webb but canalso be thankful that Barnstaple failed to take their numerous chances.
The alarm bells were sounding after only 3 minutes when Paxton got in behind the Street defence all too easily and Webb reacted well to save with his legs from close range.
The visitors should have opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Ben Higgins was dispossessed on the edge of the box by Matt Deaken who took the ball round Webb only to be denied by a last ditch tackle frpom Ben Nugent 6 yards out.
Street’s cause had not been helped when Dan Milner hobbled off after only 7 minutes providing substitute Brad Middleton (a summer signing from Bridgwater Town) his debut and it was his quick 1st time ball that put Jake Harris clear and although the young striker finished well he was controversially deemed to have been offside and the “goal” ruled out.
Just a minute later Deaken again got in behind the Street defence but on this occasion overran the ball and the danger passed.
Street were unfortunate not to go ahead in the 25th minute when a ball down the left found Dave Pearse and his perfectly flighted cross found Kye Palmer at the back post but he could only find the side netting with his 1st time shot.5 minutes later though Street did take the lead when a corner on the right from James Bisgrove was dropped under pressure by Hardie in the Barnstaple goal & Pearse reacted quickest to stab it over the line.
Webb was then called into action again as Paxton once more raced clear coming off his line quickly to smother the danger.
2 minutes later another through ball was caught by Webb coming out quickly but Jordan Charran came in late with his foot high leaving the keeper with stub marks across his chest & needing lengthy treatment before he was able to resume & the Barnstaple striker was fortunate just to receive a caution. Barnstaple continued to create all the chances though & Paxton was again denied by Webb in the 42nd minute while a minute later Charran blazed over from close range when it looked easier to score. The visitors eventually found the back of the net on the stroke of half time when Paxton made amends for his earlier misses when he volleyed home from 6 yards following a cross from the right.
At the start of the 2nd half Webb had to react quickly again to deny Paxton although the big striker added his 2nd minutes later when a corner from the left fell at his feet 3 yards out and he had the simple task of tapping it over the line.
Webb was again the hero 10 minutes later and it was Paxton again that he denied diving low to save. Street got back on level terms in the 57th minute when Jake Harris was brought down on the edge of the box & James Bisgrove stepped up to curl a peach of a shot into the top corner. Barnstaple went forward from the restart & forced a corner & it was from this that Street went ahead. Webb collecting the ball and throwing it wide to Pearse whose 1st time ball put Harris away & he cut inside before sliding a shot under the advancing keeper. Street added a 4th 10 minutes from time when Martin Pople burst into the Barnstaple area and cut the ball back from the by line into the path of Lewis Lambert who finished confidently from 12 yards out.
The last action of the game saw Webb again in action as he some how managed to push a shot from Charran over the bar with the striker only 4 yards out to cap a true man of the match performance.
