Fantastic Season

It was an interesting season 2009/10, we had a fantastic start being unbeaten and sitting in top spot for the first time in 50 years. Manager Dave Pople got manager of the month and Ben Webb got safe hands award for August. We then went through a difficult patch which saw us go without a win in 10 games. Assistant manager Kenton Palmer left due to personal reasons and Richard Nuggent steped in as no 2. We progressed to the quarter finals of the Somerset Senior Cup and faced Wells City, the game was decided on a penalty shotout, which saw Wells come out on top. A number of new players came into the side with a few moving on for different reasons. The season got a little interesting thanks to the good old english weather with a lot of games cancelled, which meant catch up towards the end with 2/3 games a week, this suited us as we found our form again and at the end of the season finished joint 5th which is credit to the players and management for believing in eachother. It also saw one of our younger players - Ben Nuggent get rewarded with a 2 year apprentership at Cardiff City, well done Ben and good luck. Well here's looking forward to next season...........Comer on the Cobblers!!!
